Panthers Suffer First Loss

HF 43 – Glens Falls 77

December 31 at Glens Falls High School. HF 6-1, L 5-0; GF O 8-0. An overall poor shooting day and a four point second quarter put the Panthers in a hole they were never able to dig themselves out of. [private]HF hung with Glens Falls through the first quarter, only trailing by six at the end.

In the second quarter the Panthers were only able to hit one two-point basket and two free throws for a four point total. GF outscored the Panthers in each of the third and fourth quarters to grab the win. Guy Milliman scored 13 and Evan McCart added 10 points. Glens Falls sophomore Joe Girard III, a Division I prospect with interest from Syracuse and Notre Dame, among others, scored 33 points. He made ten of nineteen shots he took from the field for just over fifty percent.

HF 53- Hudson Falls 35

December 30 at Glens Falls Civic Center. HooF 6-0, L 5-0; HudF O 1-4. Panthers Evan McCart and Jon Kempf combined for 22 first half points and the defense held the Tigers to 10 points in the first half. At the half the Panthers held a 34-10 advantage. From there Hoosick Falls cruised to the win. McCart and Kempf each ended with 12 points while Guy Milliman added 10.

HF 62 – Hoosic Valley 54

December 21 at Hoosic Valley HS. HF O 5-0, L 5-0; HV O 3-2, L 3-1. Alex Haynes scored 19 points to lead the Panthers to a win over the Indians. The Panthers led by six at the half but pulled away to a 19 point lead in the second half before HV came back to narrow the final score. Evan McCart added 15 points and Guy Milliman chipped in 13. Michael Schoonmaker had 19 points for Hoosic Valley.

Friday, January 6, the boys will host Mechanicville at HFCS. On Monday, January 9, the team will make the quick trip up to Bennington to play Mt. Anthony. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm for the varsity. [/private]
