Alice Taber

White Creek – In the early hours of January 26, 2017, Alice passed away peacefully, at her home on Lincoln Hill Road. [private]She had resided there for the last seven years with her son and daughter-in-law, Toby and Debbie Taber.

Alice was born to Charles and Catherine (Zitzow) Wallen, on February 16, 1927, on Staten Island. She attended schools on Staten Island and then worked for many years at AT&T in Manhattan. She also worked at New England Telephone and Telegraph Co., Bennington College and Hoosac School from where she retired to care for her mother.

Alice was the loving wife of Maurice Taber for sixty-four years. He predeceased Alice in 2012. They made their home on the family farm for sixty years.

Alice loved traveling with family and friends. She traveled to Alaska, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Scotland, Hawaii, Mexico City and all but one of the states in the U.S. She really enjoyed going to the casino with her sister, Catherine and grandson, Patrick. She was a wonderful cook and an avid reader.

Alice is survived by her four sons, Stephen Taber of Albany, Gregory (Neila) Taber of Rotterdam, Toby (Debbie) Taber of White Creek, and Darryl (Karen) Taber of Fairbanks, Alaska; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who all held a special place in her heart; her brothers David (Grace) Wallen of Trenton, New Jersey and Mark (Marie) Wallen of Veron Beach, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Maurice, Alice is predeceased by her siblings: Dorothy Taber, Leslie Wallen, and Catherine Manna.

Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York.[/private]
