Boys Undefeated In League Play

HF 75- Waterford 53

Monday, January 30 at HFCS. HF O 13-3, L 12-0; WF O 3-12; L 1-11. In a game between the first and last place teams in the Wasaren League, the Panthers jumped out to a 22-11 first quarter lead and cruised the rest of the way in front of a sparse crowd.[private]Evan McCart and Guy Milliman each scored 15 points, while Alex Haynes added 13, including 11 in the second quarter. Nine Panther players scored. Kyle Fairclough scored 27 for the Fordians. The JV won, 62-22.

HF 55 – Cambridge 48

Friday, January 27 at HFCS. HF O 12-3, L 11-0; Hoosick Falls trailed at the end of every quarter but the fourth. After scoring two points in the first half, senior Alex Haynes caught fire in the second half and dropped in 24 second half points to lead the way to the win. Haynes had four 2’s and four 3’s and made four of eight free throws for his second half points. He was the only player to score from the field in the fourth quarter and accounted for all but nine of the Panthers 33 second half points. The Panthers struggled to get it going throughout the first half, and only Guy Milliman’s ten second quarter points, which were the only Panther points scored in the quarter, kept the Panther within striking distance. Milliman ended the game with 14 points. Brendon Holcomb dropped in 17 points for Cambridge.

There are three games, all league, left on the schedule. Friday, February 3, the boys travel to Hoosic Valley. Friday, February 10, the team travels to Mechanicville. The final regular season game with be at HFCS against Saratoga Catholic. All varsity games begin after the JV game about 7:30 pm. The first round of sectionals is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, February 21 and 22, with quarterfinals February 28 – March 1. The finals will be Saturday, March 4. [/private]
