A woman sat in her car for over an hour Saturday after the vehicle she was driving left the road and clipped off a telephone pole, leaving the power wires within feet of the vehicle.

The west bound vehicle left the north side of the highway just west of the Colonial Lamp Shoppe, ripping a caution sign out of the ground, clipping the pole and leaving the vehicle up on the stump of the pole. The Hoosick Fire Department responders determined the safest thing to do would be to wait until the power was shut off before allowing the lady to exit the vehicle. The Rensselaer County Sheriffs Department and Town of Hoosick Rescue also responded to the scene. The woman was unhurt. Photo by Steve Bradley [/private]
