David G. Roden

New Lebanon – David Gerald Roden, 75, of New Lebanon, passed peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on Saturday, January 28, 2017 with his family by his side. [private]Born in Oswego, NY, he was the son of the late Gerald and Mary Roden. Dave met and married his loving wife Sheryl in 1962 and together they shared almost 55 years of happiness together. She was always by his side.

Dave attended New Lebanon Central School where he graduated in 1959. He then enlisted in the Air Force and served his country until 1964. After his service, he worked as a plumber and an electrician for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the Lebanon Valley Protective Association where he was past president and fire chief. He had a passion for woodworking, he could always be found in his garage on the weekends making bowls and various wooden projects.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Allen Roden, their two sons; Dwayne (Kelly) Roden of New Lebanon, and Timothy (Donna) Roden of New Lebanon, and by six grandchildren; Brian, Daniel, Kevin, Ethan, Jason, and Catherine. He is also survived by two sisters; Diane (William) Salvortore of Enfield, CT, and Marilyn (Melvin) Somes of Lanesborough, MA, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 3 at 3 pm at the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY-43, Stephentown, NY. Friends and relatives may visit with Dave’s family at the funeral home before the service, from 1 until 3 pm. A reception will follow the service at the Lebanon Valley Protective Association Hall, 523 State Route 20, New Lebanon, NY.
