Marjorie M. Schmich

Stephentown – Marjorie M. Schmich, 93, of Stephentown, NY passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA. [private]Born in Pittsfield on September 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Harold Sweener and Charlesetta Carpenter. She worked as Postmaster in Stephentown for many years, but nothing was more important to Marge than the time she spent with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed attending all different types of events with her nieces and nephews. She loved going to the movies with Pat, as well as taking day trips to the Racino with Barbara and Jack. Marge always had fun with a little gambling here and there, including traveling to Las Vegas annually for 20 years straight.

Marge is survived by her many loving nieces and nephews; Joan Taikowski, Barbara Styczynski, Jerry Schmich, Carl Schmich, Donald Schmich, Debbie Primett, Georgie Russo, Wendy Van Dyke, John Esposito, Robert Styczynski, Art Schmich, Nancy Roberts, and Lisa Pomakoy. Her memory also lives on in her aunt, Ann Marino, her special friends; Pat Spaniol and Theresa Gordon, and many loving great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and her great-great-great niece and nephew; TJ and Eylisia Styczynski. Marge was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert H. Schmich, who passed away in 1985, and by her nephew, William Burdick.

A funeral service was held Thursday, February 9, at 2 pm at the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home in Stephentown. Friends and relatives visited with Marge’s family at the funeral home prior the service.
