President’s Week Activities At PVMCC

February 10, 2017 By eastwickpress

The Petersburgh Veteran’s Memorial Community Center is offering youth  events during the February Presidents week vacation.  These are sponsored through PVMCC’s funds from the Stewarts’ Grant and are open  to all youth in the community, not just Petersburgers.   All the events are  also open to parents, grandparents or other adults.

There are no charges for any of these events for children under 18. On Monday February 20, magician Scott Payne will be presenting a show of  illusions that are up to an adult level.[private]  The show starts at 1 and ends at 2:30 pm. If parents will not be attending this show and will be dropping children off, they will need to sign the children in and out. Adults with a child are free.  Otherwise, there is a $2 charge for adults.

Charlie Hot Dogs will be served by the Boy Scout Venturing crew, and again this is at no charge for the children. This sale is also open   to the public  from 11 am to 12:45 pm.  Contact  Deidra at 658-3777 ext 10 or  DeidraM@Petersburgh.org by February 13 to ensure there will be enough food for all.

On  February 21 and 22 PVMCC is partnering with the Grafton Senior Center. These intergenerational events will be at the Senior Center and reservations are needed. Call the center at 279-3413 or email graftonseniorcenter@yahoo.com to reserve your seat. All ages are welcome both days but children must be accompanied by an adult.

There is a full meal associated with each of these events and the suggested donation for adults is $3  Both days activities will be from  11:30 am to 2 pm.

On Tuesday, February 21 there will be a tea party. Wear your prettiest clothes and if you need a fancy hat one will be available to borrow. Bring your Grammas, Pops, Aunties and Moms.

Wednesday, February 22 will be Mexican Day with Tacos and ice cream and a pinata.

Finally, on Thursday February 24 all are invited for a swim in the dead of  winter.  Everyone is responsible for their own transportation/carpooling. Bring a bathing cap if you have hair over ear length. A bathing suit must be worn  No shorts, cut offs or T-shirts.   Meet at  PVMCC at 12:15 or at the pool by 1 pm. We will be going to the Bennington  Recreation Center, 655 Gage St, for a great time.

Reservations are  not necessary for the swim. [/private]
