Robert “Moo” Haynes

February 23, 2017 By eastwickpress

Born March 25, 1938, Robert “Moo” Haynes, one of the “nickname legends” of Hoosick Falls and a lifetime resident of the village he loved, passed away on February 18, 2017. [private]A steadfast friend and mentor to many, Moo coached high school basketball and baseball at St. Mary’s Academy, his alma mater. He enjoyed golf and bowling, and spent much of his career working at the Albany Felt in Menands. He was a member of the National Guard, BPOE, Derby Club, and Softball League, as well as a lifetime member of the St. Stanislaus Society. An avid NY Giants and Yankees fan, he had a big personality and an even bigger laugh. Moo enjoyed his time in the sun, whether it was pool-side, track-side, or on one of many family trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida.

Despite his failing health over the past 20 months, during which he resided at The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls, he still maintained his sense of humor with witty quips that became known by his family and friends as “Mooisms.”

He is survived by his wife Noreen; children Chris, Dennis, Gregory, Ann, Patricia, Kristen, and Nancy; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by parents Irving and Elizabeth and brothers Joseph, John, William, and Paul.

Visiting hours were held Tuesday, February 21 from 4 to 7 pm at Mahar Funeral Home, in Hoosick Falls. Funeral services were on Wednesday, February 22 at 11:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.

Donations in his name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls through the Mahar Funeral Home. [/private]
