Boil Water Order Lifted On Water From Petersburgh Water District

March 16, 2017 By eastwickpress

by Alex Brooks

The Rensselaer County Department of Health has lifted the boil water order that has been in effect since the PFOA filtration system went on line January 26. [private]Some work has been done on Well #2 to correct health code violations, and after testing was done on the water, it was declared in compliance and the boil water order lifted.

Taconic paid for the work needed to bring the well into compliance.

The level of PFOA in the water coming out of the tap has been dropping. The Water Superintendent has been testing water taken from the Town Hall and from his residence on Sawyer Lane on a weekly basis. February 2 it was about 13 ppt, February 14 it was about 9 ppt, and February 23 it was about 6 ppt.

More work needs to be done on the wells and on other parts of the water system, and the search for funding to pay for that work is ongoing. [/private]
