Hoosick Falls CSD Remediates Lead In Potable Drinking Sources

March 23, 2017 By eastwickpress

submitted by Brian Bushner

School districts in New York State are required to annually test for lead and test results taken at Hoosick Falls CSD earlier this year indicated areas that were in need of remediation.

The district shared this information with the public as soon as the results were returned from the lab, and immediately took necessary steps to ensure all available water is safe for consumption.

The District has corrected all areas of concern regarding potable water sources. After that work was completed, the final step was to retest the water, and the results have indicated the samples are non-detect or well below the threshold for potable water sources.

Remediation and testing were not necessary for non-potable sources, such as in the science labs, which are labeled with warning stickers.

Paul Baker, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, said, “We made adjustments to the physical plant to rectify any problem spots that were identified last fall.” He also said, “The safety of students is our top priority, and these test results fall in line with achieving that precedence.”

Results are posted on the district website. (hoosickfallscsd.org). For any questions please contact the District Office at 518-686-7012. [/private]
