Maple Fools’!

March 24, 2017 By eastwickpress

April 1st Maple Menu and Music Event

Now that it’s spring and the sap is flowing, it’s time to flee your wintry coop and lift your mood by joining Maple Fools’, CiviCure’s evening of family friendly maple-accented food and tunes on Saturday April 1 from 6 -9 pm,  co-sponsored by the Hoosac School, Brown’s Brewing Walloomsac Taproom and Iron Coffee Company of Hoosick Falls.[private]

Enjoy a sweet and savory menu starting with grilled wings made by Brown’s Brewing Company and starring their Whiskey Porter bbq. Chef Fabian Dominguez will fire up the Hoosac School smoker and serve up bourbon maple-smoked pulled pork or veggie burgers with green apple slaw, Maple Brown Ale beans and hand cut fries. Maple cream cupcakes will satisfy the most discerning sweet tooth. Top it off with Iron Coffee’s special maple brew from beans custom roasted by ‘Iron’ Mike Milliron.

Another kind of special Maple Brew will be on offer just for this evening, made by Brown’s Brewing. And enjoy some of the finer points of stouts, ales, lagers and more as Kelly Brown and staff provide tastings during a dinnertime brew school “Beer 101.”

After dinner, join the music, it’ll be a hoot! Toot your kazoo, croon to the tunes, be a hoofer, whatever fits your mood with Hoosac School’s own DJ/karaoke maestro Jim Harniman.

Be a CiviCure booster and take a chance on winning some moolah from the lottery basket drawing. Or bring home some surefire maple goodness of your own from the Hynick Family’s Wild Hogs Sugar Shack at Maple Milk Farm. A uniquely American blend of Harley ‘hogs’ and maple syrup. Gadzooks!

Funds raised will support CiviCure’s efforts to acquire and restore the historic Wood Block building at 1-5 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York, where traveling and local artists once graced the opera house stage in this 1880 village landmark.

Magnificent Memorial Hall on the campus of the Hoosac School is the site for the event. Located at 14 Pine Valley Road in Hoosick, Hoosac School is an independent college preparatory school. Off Rt. 7 onto Pine Valley, take your first right, pass the pond and curve up the hill to the left.

Tickets are $20, elders (65+) $18, and kids 12 and under for $10. Includes dinner, soft drinks, and music. Brown’s Brewery Maple Brew and other hoppy offerings along with wine for over 21 with ID. Tickets are available in advance at Thorpe’s Drugstore, Iron City Coffee and Brown’s Brewery Walloomsac taproom in Hoosick Falls, and at the door.

CiviCure (Civic and Cultural Restoration) is a Hoosick Falls non-profit organization with the mission of community revitalization through active stewardship of Hoosick’s rich heritage and rural environs, and the art inspired by them. [/private]
