The Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center (PVMCC) offered a number of nice youth activities through their Stewart’s Grant during the Presidents’ week vacation. Over the three days of activities approximately 46 children participated.
[private]On Monday February 20 Mertlin the Mediocre (Scott Payne) presented a wonderful magic show at PVMCC.

He made sure every child in the audience was called up to assist him with his astounding feats. Hot dogs were offered and the children managed to eat nearly a 100 of them.
On the next two days inter generational programs were offered at the Everett Wagar Senior Center.

Grandparents and parents joined in the fun at minimal cost for them. On Tuesday a tea party brought out handsome boys and beautiful girls in pretty hats. They were seated at gorgeous tables and served tea, lunch and goodies. It was so much fun with many “awes” and giggles.
On Wednesday, it was Mexico Day with Tacos and ice cream. After lunch it took 45 whacks to break a very tough skinned pinata before it would spew forth its goodies.
Unfortunately Thursday turned out to be a dud. The plan was to go to the Bennington Recreation Center for a swim but the pool filter broke down so the trip was canceled.

The PVMCC Board would like to thank those who made the week possible:
Stewarts Shops Inc. who gave the grant to PVMCC for the children, Roy Kantrowitz, Entertainment Marketing New York, who found Mertlin for PVMCC and did not charge a commission. Ashely Bowen, who coordinated the day and made it possible for PVMCC to offer this great show. The Venturing Team of the Petersburgh Boy Scout Troop 222 who made the Charlie Hot Dogs. Lewis Stevens, who helped with set-up and take down for the magic show and who, in suit and bow tie, waited on those at the tea party. And certainly Penny Jones, director at the Senior Center, who with her staff and volunteers, organized the events with PVMCC. [/private]
