Raymond St. Hilaire

Hoosick Falls – Raymond E. St. Hilaire, 92, passed away on Thursday March 16, surrounded by his family at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation.

[private]He was the loving husband of Adelia (Davendonis) St. Hilaire of Hoosick Falls. Ray and Adelia were together for 71 wonderful years. Raymond was born on July 6, 1924, in Hoosick Falls, son of the late Joseph and Yvonne St. Hilaire. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls. Raymond was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force serving during WW II. While serving he was wounded twice, receiving a Purple Heart with a cluster. Following his return from service he was employed at General Electric for three years, then at the Watervliet Arsenal, as a Quality Assurance Specialist retiring after thirty-two years.

Raymond was a member of the V.F.W. and a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church both in Hoosick Falls. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors,watching sports and going to the casinos. He was a wonderful, father and husband.

Survivors other than his wife Adelia, include their children Diana Grogan (Bud) of Pittstown, NY, Cecelia LaPorte (Richard) of Attleboro, MA, Theresa Cote (Michael) of Wolcott, CT, Mary Briere (Steve) of Bennington, VT, Robert St. Hilaire (Mary Toomey) and Raymond (Denise Adams) all of Hoosick Falls, NY, also survived by eleven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grand, children nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by five sisters Alice Lozo, Leona Turner, Sister Yvonne St. Hilaire, Valeda Graney, Sister Adelina St. Hilaire and three brothers Harvey, William and Donald St. Hilaire.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday March 20, at 12:00 pm, from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will be private at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 11:00 am until the start of the mass.

Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Mary’s Academy Hoosick Falls, Immaculate Conception Church Hoosick Falls, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. [/private]
