The Dutch Legacy In The Hudson Valley

Sam Huntington will present an illustrated program on the “Life and Legacy of New Netherlands” at the Stephentown Historical Society meeting on Sunday, March 5, at 2 pm.[private] The talk focuses on the period between the discovery of the Hudson River in 1609 and the English takeover of the Dutch colony in 1664, and the lingering influence of Dutch culture in the Hudson Valley.  The event is at Stephentown Heritage Center, 5 Staples Road (corner of Garfield Road), Stephentown, New York. The program is free and the building is handicapped accessible.  For directions, telephone 518-733-0010.

Huntington is Historic Site Assistant at Crailo State Historic Site in Rensselaer, New York.  He received his degree in history from SUNY Albany and did graduate study at the University of Rochester.  He has also worked at Fort Ticonderoga and at George Eastman House in Rochester, New York. [/private]
