George E. Godfroy

New Lebanon – George Eugene Godfroy, 88, died peacefully Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Firemen’s Home in Hudson. [private] Born in Pittsfield, MA on October 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Louis and Marie Haumuller Godfroy, Sr.

George was raised and educated in New Lebanon.  He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.  He retired in 1991 from the New Lebanon Central High School after 30 years of service as a maintenance worker.  He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing and trapping.

He is the beloved father of Jacqueline J. (Jim) Farrell of East Nassau, Susan E. (Wayne) Hanson of Stephentown, Belinda (Ben) Phillips of Washington, MA, Robert (Cathy) Schrump of New Lebanon, John Schrump of LaBelle, FL and Marge (Dennis) Brown of Averill Park; brother of Carl Godfroy of Lebanon Springs and the late Louis E. Godfroy, Jr.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY Route 43, Stephentown on Thursday from 4-6 pm.  The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family with burial in the Cemetery of the Evergreens, New Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Firemen’s Home, 125 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson, NY  12534.
