Robert E. Gorman

Stephentown – Robert Edward Gorman, 83, of Stephentown, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2017 with his loving wife and daughter by his side. Born in Springfield, MA in 1933, he was the son of the late Carlan and Leah Gorman.[private]Robert grew up in Springfield and joined the U.S. Navy as soon as he was of age to do so. He served his country aboard the U.S.S. Hornet during the Korean War. Upon returning home from duty, he began working at United Technologies Hamilton Standard in Windsor, CT until his retirement in 1993. In 1965 he married the love of his life, Mary Kiley Gorman, and together they shared more than 51 years of blissful marriage. Robert had a passion for hunting and any other hobbies that would keep him outside, especially camping with friends and family. He also enjoyed fast cars and was often found drag racing in his younger years.

Robert is survived by his dear wife, Mary Kiley Gorman of Stephentown, NY, as well as by their daughter, Martha Joyce Gorman of Menands, NY. His memory will also live on in his brothers; Richard (Diana) Gorman of Hatfield, MA, and Ronald (Karlene) Patenaude of Somers, CT. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley (late Raymond) Dupre.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, April 12, at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Church in Stephentown. Friends and relatives visited with Robert’s family at the funeral home prior to the service.  Burial followed the service in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory are suggested to the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 208, Stephentown, NY 12168. Condolence book at parkerbrosmemorial.com.

Arrangements were handled by the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY-43 in Stephentown. [/private]
