Arlie Greene

Berlin – Arlie L. Greene, 97, died peacefully Thursday, May 18, 2017 in his home where he was born on December 4, 1919.[private] He was the son of the late Carlton L. and Belle Armsby Greene. He was a graduate of Berlin High School, class of 1937. He married Irene Brownell on March 2, 1946. She passed away on July 13, 2012. Together they enjoyed making home visits to community family and friends and traveling to attend church related functions and out of state family and friends.

Arlie was a school bus driver for the Berlin Central School District for 30 years and was retired from the family farm, Mapledale. He served as a Berlin Town Councilman for 16 years.

He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his three children, Althea (Dale) Rood of Dodge Center, Minnesota, Paul (Gerri) Greene of Berlin, and Wesley (Martha) Greene of Wooster, Ohio; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

His faith and love for God was apparent. He was a member of the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church since 1936 and ordained a Deacon in 1947. He also served as Church Clerk and Trustee for many years. His church family was a special part of his life.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 29 at 11 am at the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church, 41 North Main Street, Berlin.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church, PO Box 284, Berlin, NY 12022.
