Rita Greenwood

May 4, 2017 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Falls – Rita P. Greenwood of the Centers for Living and Rehab in Hoosick Falls, formerly of Redmond Street, finally got her wish to go “Home” to be with her daddy, Moms, Sisters and Brothers on April 26, 2017, three days before her 88th birthday.[private]

She was surrounded in her bon voyage by her loving family and her second family of caring staff of the Center, who made her final journey home an easy transition.

In her younger years Rita was a talented crafts person. Her hooked rugs and beautiful embroidery lace, crochet work, and painted dresser scarves are testimony of her skilled hand. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, a good hand of Old Maid and caring for all the children of the family who grew up, while she remained the consummate “Peter Pan.”

She is loved and missed by her only remaining sibling, Kathleen Hauser (Richard) of Shaftsbury, Vermont, her devoted nieces Patricia Kjelgaard, Brigette Hauser, Judy Flynn and Peg Brownell, nephew Jarod Lyons and many other nieces and nephews and devoted staff of the Center.

She is predeceased by her father William J. Greenwood Sr., mothers Louise Boylan Greenwood, Anne O’Neil Greenwood, who raised her and was her mentor and teacher of her life skills and champion of her talents. Two brothers, William (Bud) Greenwood Jr., Ronald Greenwood, four sisters, Agnes (Gee) Marcoux, Helen McMillan, Mary Fitzpatrick and Lillian (Diddy) Greenwood.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday May 1, at noon from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the church prior to the service.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made through the funeral home or family to the Activities Department at the Center for Living and Rehab, where Rita spent many happy hours. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York. [/private]
