The Village Of Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Plans

Memorial Day Rites and Parade Line-Up

Memorial day rites in the Village of Hoosick Falls will begin with the raising of the American flag by Edward “Ike” Powers, commander of the American Legion on Monday, May 29 at the Maple Grove Cemetery, followed by the flag raising at the St. Marys Cemetery.[private]At 8 am the Flag will be raised at Wood Memorial Park with a salute by the American Legion and Auxiliary.

At 8:15 am, the American Legion, accompanied by the Hoosick Falls High School Band, will march from Wood Park to the Shop Bridge to honor the men of the Navy who lost their lives at sea.

The group will then march to the Civil War Monument at the junction of Classic and High Streets to honor the dead of the Civil War at 8:40 am.

At 9:15 am, the American Legion and local veterans will assemble at the World War 1 Memorial in Wood Park. Wreaths will be placed at the World War One, World War Two, Korea and Vietnam Monuments.

The Chaplain of the American Legion will then offer a prayer.

A parade consisting of two divisions will assemble at 9:15 am and will step off at 10 am.
