Esther W. Sharp

Lebanon Springs – Esther Williams Sharp, 98, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, MA.[private] Born in Lebanon Springs on June 22, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Leroy J. and Grace Gaylord Williams.

Esther was a lifelong resident of Lebanon Springs. She was employed by Ceramaseal in New Lebanon for over 20 years as an executive secretary before retiring in 1984. She was also a Postmistress at the Lebanon Springs Post Office.

She was a 77 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #841 in New Lebanon and was a past Grand Officer. She volunteered at the Joseph Hooper Memorial Library in New Lebanon and for the Mt. Lebanon Shakers. She enjoyed needlework, reading, puzzles, crosswords and birds and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and NASCAR.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hillcrest Commons for the wonderful care given to our mom and friendships made.

She was the wife of the late Harold S. Sharp, Sr. who died in 1963; beloved mother of Harold (Doreen) Sharp, Jr. and Ruthmary (Charles) Lasher both of Lebanon Springs; grandmother of Brian (Ramona) Sharp of LaGrange, KY and the late Diane Sharp; great grandmother of Jacob and Kayleigh Sharp of Plymouth, MA; sister of the late Lillian Cummings, Clifford and Clayton Williams.

The funeral service was held Saturday June 10 at 11 am at the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home in Stephentown with Pastor James Knox officiating. Interment followed in the Cemetery of the Evergreens, New Lebanon. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Friday evening June 9.
