The Grafton Summer Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 15 at the Grafton Town Park on NYS Route 2, one mile east of the State Park entrance.[Private]
For over 25 years the festival has been held and has featured a craft fair and flea market. This year a record number of vendors is expected.
Among the activities are Civil War reenactors called Crenshaws Battery. This will include several soldiers in full garb and a display of tents and equipment and personal weapons. There will also be two cannons on display. Crenshaw’s Battery is sponsored by the Grafton Community Library.
Our Lady of the Snow, Mission of Our Lady of Victory, will sponsor a chicken BBQ with up to 300 meals to be served on site or for take-out, from noon until the meals are sold out.
Tickets for the dinner may be obtained and reserved by calling 421-5070. Advance reservations are recommended.
The Girl Scouts of Grafton will be providing hamburgers, hotdogs, sausage and peppers and cold soft drinks. In the morning they will be providing coffee, donuts and other breakfast items for the vendors and patrons.
Homemade baked goods will be on sale by the ladies of Our Lady of the Snow Mission.
Our Lady of Victory Youth Ministry will be selling popcorn and doing face painting and other youth-oriented activities.
As always, Sister Kenan McGowan’s Memorial Giant Raffle will be continued with tickets available from most parishioners of Our Lady of the Snow Mission. Tickets will also be sold all day on Saturday. We are expecting to have music, singing and entertainment all day. Capitaland Chorus will be at the gazebo at noon. The former Taco Tuesday, a musical group of high school students from the Troy and Our Lady of Victory area will also be playing for the festival goers.
It is expected that the Grafton Volunteer Fire Co. will have a dunking booth and other activities for everyone’s enjoyment.
The Grafton Community Library will have a display of the many offerings of the modern library.
The friends of Grafton State Park will have a booth with information about the State Park system and Grafton in particular.
The Dyken Pond Environmental Center in Grafton will also be present with displays and information about their many programs.
We are anticipating the presence of the Grafton Snowmobile Club with a display of some of their new snowmobiles.
Every day more exciting vendors and community organizations are joining the festivities.
