Katrine Phillips

Berlin – Katrine Jorgensen Phillips, a long-time resident of Berlin, NY died peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Bennington Health & Rehabilitation.[private]

Katrine was born on January 19, 1929 in Berlin, NY to John Meyers Jorgensen and Catherine Maxon. She attended Berlin High School and remained a Berlin resident until moving to Bennington, VT in 2008.

In her early years, Katrine worked in nursing but spent the majority of her career working at W.J. Cowee in Berlin, NY where she was employed for over 40 years.

A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Katrine enjoyed spending time with her family, birdwatching, tea drinking, and watching golf on television. She also enjoyed trips to the family camp at Dyken Pond. Her husband, Nelson “Tip” Phillips, whom she married on May 26, 1951, passed away on February 14, 2008. Katrine is also predeceased by her youngest son Peter Jorgensen Phillips and sisters Elizabeth Lillibridge, Metha Krisjensen, and Joan Wright.

Katrine leaves her son John Phillips and daughter- in-law Evelyn Phillips of Bennington, VT, grandsons Joshua Phillips of Bennington VT, and Nathan Phillips of Albany, NY. She will be sorely missed by her nephew Stephen Phillips of Berlin, NY, niece Val Bell of Cambridge, NY and friends Rose and Avery Schatz of Bennington, VT.

At Katrine’s wish, services will be held privately at a future date.

If friends desire, contributions in memory of Katrine Jorgensen Phillips can be made to the Berlin Rescue Squad through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.[/private]
