Shirley Howard

June 1, 2017 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Falls – Shirley (St. John) Howard, rested in peace on January 2, 2017 at the age of 81, with her loving and caring family by her side at home. [private]Born in Cadyville, NY, she soon moved to and grew up in Booneville, NY, where she attended school and met the love of her life, William “Bill” Howard at the age of 5.

When they were married, they moved to Troy, where they raised their five children. Although, for the most part, she spent her life as a homemaker, she enjoyed working at Walmart in both Tallahassee and Troy. As a devoted Catholic, she always carried her rosary and said prayers daily.

She is predeceased by her husband, William Howard Sr. and parents Herbert St. John and Sophronia “Ethel” Pelkey, along with two sisters Elizabeth and Pearl and a brother, Herbert. Survivors include a sister Veronica “Ronnie” and her husband Jean “Buddy” Larin. All her children William “Billy” Howard Jr. of CA, Chauncey “Chaun” (Darryl) Jones of FL, Wayne “Skip” (Elizabeth) of CA, Cynthia “Cindy” (Robert) Hug of Averill Park and Christine “Cricket” (John) Miclette of Hoosick Falls, also 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday June 3 at 11 am at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Loudonville, NY, where she will be put to rest with her husband and many family relatives. A small get-together to celebrate her life will follow at the Miclette’s residence in Hoosick Falls.

The family would like to extend its gratitude to Cricket and John for the love and care given to our mother for so many years. We would also like to thank the Mahar Funeral Home for the kindness and help given at the time of our mother’s loss. [/private]
