Hazel Springer

Eagle Bridge – Hazel F. Springer, 96, passed away on Tuesday July 4, 2017 at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls. [Private]She resided on State Route 67 in Eagle Bridge and was the wife of the late Roland Springer.

Hazel was born on April 28, 1921, in Bennington, Vermont, daughter of the late Leo M. and Lucy (Cornell) Surdam. She was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed bowling and bingo. Hazel was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Survivors include her daughters Dorothy Dawley (Charles), Sally Whittet (Steven) both of Hoosick Falls, NY, Gerry LaFlamme (Gary) of Bennington, VT, sons Charles Springer (Alice) and Roland Springer both of Eagle Bridge, NY, Robert Springer of Ballston Spa, NY, Richard Springer (Marcia) of Hoosick Falls, NY and Joseph Springer (Linda) of Buskirk, NY. Two step-sisters Ramona Gerrity and Helen Rock, sister-in-law Lorraine Surdam, also thirty-four grandchildren, seventy-six great- grandchildren, seventeen great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Hazel is predeceased by two daughters Patricia McGarvin and Lucy Moseley, two sisters Dorothy Ryan and Betty, three brothers Arthur, Clifford and Leo Surdam and two grandsons.

Funeral services were held Friday July 7, at 12 noon from the West Hoosick Baptist Church, West Hoosick, NY. Burial followed the service at the West Hoosick Cemetery. Relatives and friends called at the church prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen & Molly McGovern Memorial Fund, through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls who are handling arrangements.[/Private]
