“Heroes And Legends” Is The Theme Of This Year’s 4th Of July Parade In Berlin

With another great day provided by Mother Nature, hundreds again lined the parade route to watch the annual Berlin 4th of July parade, and once again the parade committee and the participants met all expectations.[Private]

Heroes and Legends was the decorative theme of most of the floats, that combined with marchers from the Berlin American Legion and the Grafton VFW post, various fire apparatus, business entries, the Berlin Elementary School and High School Band, as well as a number of classic cars.

The list of each category’s winners is below.  In all, there were representatives from Berlin, Petersburgh, Grafton,

Stephentown and West Sand Lake.  Hoosick Falls and Hoosick units, who normally march in the parade, were busy this year with flood recovery efforts.

Grand Prize – “God and Heroes” by the Grafton Baptist Church

Theme Prize, – “Willie” by the Oswald Family.  Second Prize, Heroes in Science “Albert Einstein by the Vacation Bible School of the 7th Day Baptist Church.

Funniest Prize – “The Batmobile” by the Hammersmith Family.  Second Prize, “Heroes on Vacation” by the Maxon family.

Prettiest Prize – “Heroes of the Past and Present” by the Berlin Elementary School.  Second Prize “We can be Heroes” by the Girl Scout Troop # 1317

Business Best – “Veterans” by Burdick Excavating

Trucks – First Prize – George Dahl, “79” Military Vehicle.  Second Prize – John Ray oil truck (supporting breast cancer)
