A news release from the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office says 45 year old Peter Martin of 1254 Pine Valley Road was crushed to death on Tuesday, July 4, in an accident at his home.[Private]
According to Sheriff Pat Russo, Martin was pulling stumps out when the chain hooked to the back of his tractor caused the machinery to flip over on him.  According to the Sheriff, the County Medical Examiner pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The accident occurred about 8 pm.
Martin worked as the head brewer at Brown’s Brewing Company, based in Troy but with facilities in Hoosick Falls.  He was employed by Brown’s for nearly 24 years.
A statement released by the company said Martin “was loved by many and was an integral part of the Brown’s Brewing family.” According to the Craft Beer brewing site, NewYorkUpstate.com, Martin was responsible for creating some of Brown’s signature brews, like its Oatmeal Stout and its Whiskey Porter. [/Private]
