Irene M. Couch

Irene M. Couch, 85, a former resident of Bennington, VT and Hoosick Falls, NY, passed away peacefully June 24, 2017 in Mocksville, NC, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.[Private] Born November 15, 1931 in Bennington, she was the only daughter of the late Marshall and Aldea (Page) LaCroix. She attended local schools and worked at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center before retiring in 1996. Irene was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. An avid doll collector, she enjoyed antiquing and hunting for new finds for her collection at auctions and tag sales.

Irene leaves behind her children Donna (Robert) Couch-Jones of Tucson, AZ, Deborah Plankey of Titusville, FL, Philip (Terry) Couch of North Bennington and Lisa Brownell of Mocksville, NC as well as grandchildren Theo Jones, Jennifer Johnson (Matt), Alyssa Aument (Scott), Samantha Plankey, Heather Stevens (Dan), Patricia Stefanovich, Elizabeth and Cassandra Brownell and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Philip L. Couch Sr., grandson Philip Couch III, great-grandson, Calen Aument, her aunt, Irene O’Grady and her brothers Arthur, Bernard, Eugene, Gerald, Normand, and Robert Edmond LaCroix.

In accordance with Irene’s wishes, funeral services will be private.
