Berlin’s New Dollar General Store Is Open For Business, With The Pomp And Circumstance To Come Later

August 4, 2017 By eastwickpress

by Doug La Rocque

The Dollar General Corporation has told The Eastwick Press they plan to hold a grand opening for its new store on Route 22 in Berlin on August 12.  In the meantime, the store held what was termed a “soft opening” this past Sunday. Driving by, one will notice that the construction around the facility continues, in fact the store does not yet have outside electrical service.  Store employees say all the poles needed to run the power lines to the building have not yet been set, so they are running off a large generator.

The new Berlin Dollar General is now open.

The town approved the generator, because it does not create much noise.  In fact, Town Supervisor Rob Jaeger says you can barely hear it.  He for one says, “I was very glad to see them open Sunday, I needed to get a wedding anniversary card.”  And yes, it was for his anniversary.

As Dollar General keeps the paper informed as to its plans, we will pass it on.
