Michaela Ann (Barbara) Charron

August 31, 2017 By eastwickpress

Michaela Ann (Barbara) Charron
Hoosick Falls – Michaela Ann (Barbara) Charron, 64, also known as Barb, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2017, after a year long battle with cancer. She will be remembered and missed for her kindness, wonderful laugh, hilarious dry humor, and amazing mind, as well as her faith.
Born in Troy, NY, Michaela was raised in Hoosick Falls, changing her name legally at age 18 from Barbara to Michaela. She was a 1971 graduate of Hoosick Falls Central School, but one of her greatest honors was when she received an honorary diploma in January 2017 from Hoosac School, which to her always “felt like home.” She was also a regular communicant at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington, VT.
A lifelong resident of Hoosick Falls, Michaela was an avid lover of cats, especially her boys, Vinnie and Riki. She knew as much about hockey as any historian, and she could tell you from the beginning to end the entire history (and roster) of her team, the Boston Bruins. This love of the game led her to pen pals from Pittsburgh and Chicago, to as far away as Finland, and in turn formed deep friendships that have lasted for decades. She was also a fervent music fan, never missing a Hoosick Falls Community Band concert in Wood Memorial Park, until illness made it impossible for her to attend.
Michaela in predeceased by her mother, Judith A. Stewart (Bohmer). She is survived by her sisters, Lisa Smith and Lori Stewart, and her brother William Stewart, all of Hoosick Falls, as well as her father, Arthur Charron of Bennington, VT. She is also survived by nieces Ashley Cabana, Alexis Smith, and Elizabeth Conkling Stewart, and nephews Adam Cabana and Ethan Stewart, along with many beloved cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday September 2 at 11 am, from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, on Main Street in Bennington, VT. A reception to celebrate her life will follow at the reception hall immediately following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, please make donation to your local animal shelter or to Sacred Heart St Francis de Sales Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.
