The driver of this DeCrescente Distributors truck told the investigating Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Deputy, he was attempting to pull off to the side of Route 2, when the pavement on the shoulder of the road gave way under his rear wheels, causing the trailer to slide down into the ditch.
The truck was westbound on Wednesday morning, August 9, when the mishap occurred just before Babcock Lake Road. The driver was not injured, and none of the truck’s contents were spilled. Traffic along Route 2 was closed for a short time that afternoon while salvage crews removed the vehicle.
