Grafton’s Dunham Reservoir Road Getting Long-Awaited RepairsBy Doug La Rocque

It was back at a special meeting of the Town Board in March, that problems with Grafton’s infrastructure really started to come to light.    At the August meeting of the Board, Highway Superintendent Herb Hasbrouck reported the Town had received more Consolidated Highway Improvement (CHIPs) monies than had been budgeted for, and that he was using these funds to reclaim the road.

The week of August 28 the project got underway, with the old pavement being ground up to make the base. Hasbrouck said he has had #2 stone added to the mix as well as calcium to help harden that base. Once that is complete, paving over the base will begin.  The superintendent said most of the work should be completed very soon, except for the very top coat.  That, he said, will be laid in the spring, after the first layers of pavement have had a chance to settle and harden up.
