The Cheney Library Appeals For Your Support

October 6, 2017 By eastwickpress

Submitted by Carol Gaillard

Cheney Library has a number of volunteers to help us serve the Hoosick Falls area. We all want you to say YES for Cheney Library in November.

Mary Remancus and Hope Barry are Hoosick Falls residents who volunteer and help Carol with getting ready for pre-school story time. In addition Hope helped label all of the adult mystery books. Jane Verderosa is another of our volunteers: ” My husband and I have lived in the Town of Hoosick for the past 30 years after living and working in Bennington for 18 years. I retired in 2007 and began volunteering at the library some time after. It’s been so much fun working with Carol and Silvia (and Margaret before she retired) that I don’t know how long I’ve been volunteering!

Just like Uncle Sam, the volunteers at the Cheney Library want you to support them in November

I enjoy meeting with my knitting friends every Tuesday morning at the library and meet one evening a month with “Between the Covers” book club. I’ve witnessed firsthand that Cheney Library is more than just a library – it’s a community resource beyond just books. ”

Emma and Debora Hall, daughters of Pastor Dale and Karen Hall, needed something to do that was meaningful; they both enjoy reading and always came to the library. Emma and Debora help circulation on Mondays. This is a natural fit for these two liberal arts majors at Hudson Valley Community College.

And then we have another sister team Hailey and Scarlet Bussey who are painting a dynamic mural in the children’s room. Another teen is Mary Pilot, daughter of Doug and Wendy Pilot, who helps us on Thursdays with circulation. During the summer Gloria Martinez, daughter of James Martinez and Paula Kamperman, volunteered and helped Carol with getting ready for the vote in November.

Cheney Library is really grateful for these volunteers who make running the library much easier. So please vote YES for Cheney Library to carry on into the future with all of the services.
