Work On Dunham Reservoir Road Is Nearly Complete

October 6, 2017 By eastwickpress

By Doug La Rocque

For more than a year the Grafton Town Board has fielded complaints about the state of disrepair on the road. With the infusion of some extra Consolidated Highway Fund monies from New York State, work was commenced last month on fixing it. It began with grinding up the surface and relaying the base. Last week, town highway crews with the help of many other towns and Rensselaer County, repaved the road, with what Highway Superintendent Herb Hasbrouck tells The Eastwick Press was more than 3000 tons of blacktop. According to Hasbrouck, the top coat will be laid in the spring.

One of the most vocal proponents of the repairs was Town Councilman Eric Buckley, who told Mr. Hasbrouck earlier this past summer when plans to fix the road were announced, that he wanted it done right. This included mowing, cutting the brush back and cleaning out the ditches. He tells The Eastwick Press that with the exception of a few minor cosmetics, this has been done and he is happy with the result. That is a sentiment echoed by Town Supervisor Ingrid Gundrum, who also says she would like to see the town put together a plan to pave all the through roads in Grafton, of course as funding permits.
