Brunswick Planning Board

November 24, 2017 By eastwickpress

Borrego Solar Project Gets Go-Ahead, With A Condition

That condition involved the entrance-way. It must be at least 16 feet wide for the entire length, and their site plan shows a 20 foot width. The catch is about a 100 foot stretch of the roadway where it transverses a wetland. There it has to be reduced to 14 feet. The Board said it could accept that, provided it is part of the plans approved by the Army Corp of Engineers. The applicants indicated that is what the Corp wants, but have not yet received the formal approval. Borrego will have to file a revised site plan when that document is in hand. The Board also required they place anti-glare covers on the solar panels, make sure all construction debris is removed in a reasonable amount of time and that all electrical conduit be at least at ground level, save for where it is aerial on the three poles needed to transmit to the National Grid connection.

Before Borrego can begin construction, they must still receive approval from the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals. The issue there is a variance seeking relief from the 100-foot setback on the proposed interior lot line separating the two proposed facilities and the requirement to have all utilities located underground. That proposal includes two separate lots of 10 and 11 acres, located at 138 Brick Church Road. (State Route 278).

The Board also approved an amended site plan request from the owners of Diamond Rock Plaza on Oakwood Avenue that would allow them to begin construction of the foundation for the structure.
