Lois M. Surprise

Grafton

Lois M. Surprise, 86, of Old Road died on Thursday January 4, 2018 under the care of Hospice at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Lois was born and raised in the town of Nassau and was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Barbara Engwer Wagner and wife for over 66 years to John E. Surprise who died on April 28, 2016. Lois was a graduate of the Averill Park High School and had been a floral designer for area florists and had also worked at area department stores. Lois had been an office manager at the former Montgomery Wards in Menands. Lois had resided in Grafton since 1957, was a member of the Gilead Lutheran Church and she and John had wintered in Boynton Beach Florida for a number of years.

Lois was the sister of the late Grace Andrick, Elizabeth Southard and Helen Consaul.

Survivors include her children Jon Craig Surprise of Grafton, Karen S. (Woodrow) Maxwell and Arthur J. (Cathleen) Surprise of Grafton and her sister Barbara Griswold of New Smyrna Beach, FL. Lois is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in the Spring at which time John and Lois will be interred at the Garfield Cemetery in Stephentown.
