Justin Hall Achieves The Rank Of Eagle Scout

February 1, 2018 By eastwickpress

Submitted by Andy Zlotnick

Berlin’s Justin Hall became Troop 222’s (Petersburgh) seventh member to attain the rank of Eagle Scout this past Sunday, January 28 in a ceremony held at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Civic Center. Mr. Hall earned scouting’s highest honor by completing 21 Merit badges, 11 of which were required to obtain the rank. He also completed a community service project, which was to build and place several outdoor benches at the Dyken Pond Environmental Center in Grafton. The Center’s Director Lisa Hoyt complimented Justin on the project, and spoke about how “it fit into the appreciation of the out of doors and disconnecting from technology and plugging into nature.”

Justin noted that to complete the project he had to contact the Center to discuss options and pick a plan he felt he could accomplish, fund raise for the materials, research the benches and then supervise a work party to build and place the benches at the Center. County Executive Steve McLaughlin sent Justin a note praising his accomplishments and a framed certificate memorializing such.

Justin becomes the second member of his family to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. His brother Trevar was so honored in 2016, also as a member of Troop 222.

Justin is a sophomore at Berlin Central High School, plays on the JV Basketball Team and was on the Honor Role for the first quarter of the school year.
