Berlin Town Board

March 16, 2018 By eastwickpress

The Roadside Grass Will Be Mowed In Berlin This Year

Last summer the lack of a tractor to mow the grass along town roads started to become a problem. Berlin’s old tractor wasn’t worth repairing anymore and it took until late summer before the town was able to find one to lease. At the Town Board meeting on Thursday, March 8, that problem was resolved. The Board accepted the lone bid from Westchester Tractor of Brewster, NY for $49,000. The purchase price reflects the $30,000 the town has paid in leasing fees that were applied by the company toward the cost of the tractor. Berlin decided to put the purchase out to bid when Westchester informed them that going forward, only $1,900 of the $6,000 monthly rental fee would be applied toward the purchase price.

It was a relatively quick meeting. The Board agreed to set the date for the annual spring rabies clinic for Thursday, April 19. Both rabies and distemper vaccinations will be available for dogs and cats, at $10 cash. Cats will be vaccinated at 6 pm, dogs at 7 pm. The clinic will again take place at the Municipal Center on Route 22. The Board next meets in a workshop session on Thursday, March 22.
