CLASS C

HF 1 at Greenville 2

Friday, May 25 at Moreau Recreation Park. Hoosick Falls 5 at Lake George 4

Wednesday, May 23 at Lake George. The Panthers upset number two seed Lake George by taking back a lost lead on offense and having the defense hold the Warriors scoreless for the final four innings, despite committing seven errors in the game. The Panthers grabbed a three run lead in the second inning that appeared to stagger the Warriors. Lake George came back in the bottom of the same inning with one run of their own. The Warriors regrouped in the bottom of the third to get three runs across to grab a 4-3 lead and momentum. After a scoreless fourth inning, Hoosick Falls scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. From that point the Panthers defense held the Warriors scoreless to come away with the big win and the chance to play in the sectional semifinals. Mackenzie Ellis, Olivia Brownell (double), Stephanie Merwin, Lily Abbott and Sophie Estes (double) had the Panther’s five hits. Abby Philpott got the seven inning win on the mound, giving up five hits and striking out one. Lake George pitcher Jaeger also gave up five hits to go along with eleven strikeouts.
