The Republican candidate to replace outgoing 43rd District State Senator Kathy Marchione, made a swing through the district Thursday, July 26, officially announcing her candidacy. Daphne Jordan was accompanied on her stop at the Veterans of Lansingburgh by New York GOP Gubernatorial hopeful Mark Molinaro, who spoke on the mantra of his campaign, being “the only way to move New York State forward, is to empower the people.”

Making her official announcement, Ms. Jordan said “as a mother and small businesswoman, in the State Senate I will work hard to strengthen our economy, support job creators, protect taxpayers from the New York City Democrats agenda of higher taxes and wasteful spending and preserve our Second Amendment freedoms.
Jordan is currently a Town of Halfmoon Councilwoman and serves as Legislative and Senate Local Government Committee director for Senator Marchione.
Also joining Ms. Jordan during her announcement was Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin, Assemblyman Jake Ashby, as well as Rensselaer County Sheriff Pat Russo and County Clerk Frank Merola. Executive McLaughlin telling those gathered, “We need leaders who will fight for new growth, investment and improvement in our quality of life.” He also called upon voters to keep New York, “the Empire State, not the Vampire State.”
Ms. Jordan will oppose Democrat Aaron Gladd, a U.S. Army combat veteran and currently Deputy Director of Policy for Governor Andrew Cuomo. Mr. Gladd is a resident of Brunswick.
