Orange Wanderer
Young Eastern newts (Notophthalmus viridescens), or efts, can be seen on the wet forest floor after a rain. This wandering juvenile stage typically lasts two to three years.

Efts vary in color from yellow-orange to orange-red. This eft was found in the Petersburgh woods, and is the subject of Trix Niernberger’s 200th photo for the Eastwick Press.
