Rock Wall Summer Reading Finale

Our Summer Reading program will be ending and we are celebrating a summer of books and fun with a community event you won’t want to miss!  Libraries Rock in many ways, and here is another one. On Friday, August 17 from 5 to 7 pm, Climb Time will be visiting us here at the library with their massive 24 ft tall rock wall!  It has 4 sides and offers 20 different climbing routes.  It’s great for all abilities and all ages – they’ve had climbers from age 3 to 87! Come join us and give it a try or just come and watch your friends and neighbors! All are welcome.

Petersburgh Public Library Director Melissa Lockett points to one of the buildings she recognizes in Rensselaer County Undersheriff Ed Bly’s collection of photographs of Petersburgh that date back as far as 1909. The Undersheriff recently came into possession of the collection put together by his late grandfather, Richard Weaver of Petersburgh. Mr. Bly has graciously donated the photographs to the library for all to enjoy.

Looking For Tuesday Volunteers

The library is currently looking for volunteers for two positions on Tuesdays.  Those interested must be 18 years of age or older.  If you are interested in finding out more please contact Melissa at the Petersburgh Library at 518-658-2927.

Story Time Volunteer

We have a wonderful story time group on Tuesday mornings from 10-11:30 am, and we are looking for an energetic person who loves kids ages 0-5 to come spend time with the children and their caregivers reading to them and doing hands-on activities.

Circulation Desk Volunteer

We are looking for someone during the hours of 2-6 pm on Tuesdays to help out at the circulation desk checking in/checking out books, DVDs, and other materials, assisting patrons, shelving books, etc.  We run a Windows-based software program, so computer experience would be helpful.
