Donald Gilbert

Hoosick Falls, NY

Donald Gilbert, 79, passed away on September 20, 2018 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. He was the husband of the late Dawn (Baker) Gilbert who died in 2014.

Donald was born on May 2, 1939, in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Edgar D. and Doris (Rice) Gilbert. He graduated from Onondaga Valley High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1960-1964. Donald was formerly employed at Baker’s Nursery for many years and later at True Value Hardware, both in Hoosick Falls.

Survivors include his children Tracy (Dave) Wheatley of Watervliet, NY and Erik (Kristen) Gilbert of Hoosick Falls, his grandchildren Ben Wheatley, Theodore James Gilbert, Elijah Joseph Gilbert and Samantha Gildea, brother George Gilbert of Melbourne, FL also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday September 24 from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick, NY. Burial followed the service at the West Hoosick Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.
