An early morning accident Tuesday September 25 at the intersection of Routes 22 and 346 resulted in one Jeep, an SUV Cherokee type model, being burned beyond recognition and heavy damage to the front passenger side of a GMC pickup truck. The call for emergency personnel to respond came at approximately 6 am.
Zach Myers, driving the pickup truck, pulled out of Rabbit College Road onto Route 22 and into the path of the oncoming Jeep.
“I never saw them, they didn’t have the lights on,” Myers, who was unhurt, would later say.

The pickup ended up on the side of the road just north of Route 346. The Jeep went over the small embankment and ended up in the grass between the old Three Way parking lot and the road. The vehicle was on fire.
Myers become aware the male front seat passenger had no legs and was unable to remove himself from the vehicle. The female driver was able to get out on her own.
“I pulled him out the car,” Myers said. “The car was on fire, what are you going to do? I went back and got the wheelchair out. ”
Petersburgh Fire Department arrived and quickly extinguished the fire.
Rescue Squads from Bennington and Petersburgh responded to the scene. It did not appear anyone was transported from the scene.
