Stillwater Man Arrested For Menacing

Hoosick Falls Village Police Press Release

On September 8, the Hoosick Falls Police responded to Church Street for a reported Domestic Dispute where the suspect was reported to have a knife. Officers arrived to find that the suspect Cody Smith (22) of Stillwater, had left the residence on foot and was located a short distance from the residence by Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Deputies that were assisting at the scene.

Upon investigation it was found that the suspect had broken into the residence of his former girlfriend. While in the residence he assaulted the victim and threatened her with a knife. Smith was charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, a Felony, along with Menacing in the Second Degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Assualt in the Third Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Smith was arraigned in the Village of Hoosick Falls Court by Judge Restino, where an Order of Protection was issued and Smith was remanded to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $5000 cash/bond.
