On October 20, Friends of Cheney Library hosted a Fairy Party in the Children’s Room of the library. Two stories were read, Puss in Boots and Thumbelina plus a poem by Jane Yolen, “Where Do Fairies Live.” Then the children started building their own fairy houses from a painted shoebox and lots of material from nature.

They each chose a fairy or two to live in the house that they built. The imagination that they showed was wonderful. Helen Greene, Silvia Plasse, Susan Hoffman, and Carol Gaillard helped the children find just the right materials for their homes and glue them in place. Mary Lucey supplied everyone with delicious chocolate chip scones, the food of choice for fairies.
