In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that ended WWI, and as a tribute to Town of Hoosick soldiers who gave their lives during that war, an event will be conducted November 8 through 10 in the historic Hoosick Falls Armory (HAYC3). The doors will open to the public Thursday at 2 pm and Friday at 11 am. The event will feature display boards chronicling the lives of these 33 soldiers. They are being created by Hoosick Falls CSD sixth and seventh graders in Christian Farley’s History classes.

Having the students involved in the project is proving to be both educational and community minded. “These kids are excited about doing this and it’s a great way to honor our local war dead and remind the students that freedom is indeed not free,” said Farley
The event will also feature historic artifacts, media displays and ceremonial items related to WWI. On Thursday the Hoosick Falls Community Band will be performing starting at 7:30 pm. On Friday at 7 pm the Taconic Pipe Band will perform.
On Saturday starting at 11 am at the Armory, a ceremony will be held to commemorate the Armistice by committing a time capsule to be buried in Liberty Memorial Park.
This event is especially suitable for groups, not only of those related to the military but everyone who has been touched by our history.
