Indians Romp, 52 – 6

October 25, 2018 By steve bradley

For the first 15 minutes of the game it was hard to tell if the Cambridge-Salem Indians were playing the Helderburg Valley football team or a group of mannequins with football helmets on. C-S scored 45 points in that span and scored more touchdowns than they ran third down plays.

C-S had five touchdowns in the first quarter, three in the second and one in the third. The halftime score was 52-0.

With nine minutes to play in the second quarter, C-S coach Doug Luke was substituting freely and many starters were standing on the sideline.

It was so bad for Helderburg Valley that in the third quarter Cambridge-Salem only touched the ball for one play. Normally this would be good. But even this turned out to be  bad because on that touch Tommy English returned a punt 54 yards for a touchdown.

Helderburg Valley was a 4-3 team coming into the game, so they knew how to play. But on this day they had no answer for their opponent.

Helderburg Valley did score in the fourth quarter on a 43 yard pass from quarterback Kyle Waddell to receiver Jakob  Stahl.

Kaedin Ogilvie ran four times for 73 yards, Tyler Linendoll ran three times for 33 yards and Tommy English had three carries for 102 yards. Helderburg Valley rushed for 35 yards on 47 carries.

Cambridge-Salem quarterbacks Calvin Schneider, Eli Truehart and Jacob Ruggles were a combined two completions on five attempts . Schneider threw a 28 yard touchdown pass.
