It Was a Real Hullabaloo

October 5, 2018 By steve bradley

It was a beautiful day for a Hullabaloo in downtown Hoosick Falls, all taking place in or just outside the Armory on Church Street. The event was planned by HAYC3.

The fourth Annual Hullabaloo kicked off with a one-mile free-for-all Hoosick Hues: Color Run. Ten am found Marion Stevens leading children on a geocaching adventure around the Armory. At the same time two art projects were taking place inside the Armory – Hoosick Has Heart and hoosickbeings.

Noontime brought Basket Bingo inside the Armory. Players, many of them children, played to win baskets of goodies and were thrilled when they won. There were plenty of baskets and many happy winners.

Three to six pm found the activities moving outdoors to the street. Elm Street was closed from Church Street to Main Street and filled with adults and children. There was a goat petting zoo, a Bouncy-Bounce, face painting, food, vendors and a chowder cook-off.  The folk-rock band The Nellies provided excellent music that had kids dancing in the street.

Even the Wolfman found some time to prowl the streets of Hoosick Falls Saturday night.

The events of the day concluded with the Illuminated parade from Wood Park. There were children who were lit up, lighted floats, cars and tractors, Rescue Squad vehicles and more. People lined the streets to watch the illuminations go by on a perfect fall evening.
