Once again several hundred bikers gathered at Brunswick Harley Davidson on Sunday, October 21, to help kick off the Marine Corps annual Toys for Tots campaign. They ride so less fortunate children may experience the joy of presents under their Christmas Tree. Those who showed up on this very chilly afternoon either brought a new toy to donate or contributed $15 to help purchase gifts.

The program began in 1947, with the actual foundation chartered in 1991. The stated objective is to help less fortunate children throughout the United States and to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children.
The Marine Corps was dealt a blow to its distribution this year, when Amtrak, for fianancial reasons, said it would no longer help move the collected toys around the country. The Marines have vowed this will not deter them in their mission. Judging from the number of bikers and supporters gathered in Brunswick Sunday, it won’t.
