Boys sectional soccer play began Wednesday when Class B #10 seeded Tamarac defeated #7 seed Coxsackie-Athens,1-0. Schalmont headed the top bracket while #2 seed Ichabod Crane headed the lower bracket. Quarter-final action for Tamarac will be Friday, beginning at 3 or 7 pm, Oct. 19, against the winner of #2 Ichabod Crane vs. #15 Glens Falls. Semi-final games will be at Mohonasen High on Tuesday, Oct. 23, with the finals on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Colonie High beginning at 6 pm.
Class C finds Lake George heading the top bracket as the #1 seed, with #2 Ichabod Crane at the top of the lower bracket.
In Tuesday’s play-in games #20 Hoosick Falls lost 3-0 to #13 Mekeel Christian and #18 Berlin defeated #15 Middleburgh, 1-0. Berlin scored one first half goal that turned out to be all they needed as the Mountaineers defense held Middleburg scoreless for the game.
Quarter-finials will be Monday, Oct. 22 on the home field of the highest seed. Semi-finals will be held at Mohonasen High on Thursday, Oct. 25, with the top bracket playing at 7 pm, with the lower bracket (Berlin) beginning at 5 pm. The championship game will be held at Colonie High on Monday, Oct. 29 at 4 pm.
